Our Story

Plant medicine is healing and inspiring. As a new and young midwife, who believed deeply in the power of herbal remedies, my adventures into plant medicines started prior to my first pregnancy. I started to make herbal tea blends which eventually turned into making infusions and teas during and after my pregnancy. As these remedies began to work, making me feel energized, helping with breastfeeding, and empowering me, I knew I was onto something.

When my son was very young we initiated family traditions of hunting for dandelions and teaching our children the benefits of finding these plants in the wild. It was around this time that we made our first Dandelion Bitter and Elderberry Syrup.

Many of our friends were into the ideas of plant medicines, and what was once very small batches of elixirs has now grown into larger handcrafted batches. I am currently working through the Aviva Romm Herbal Medicine for Women course and have been to several conferences, been on many plant walks to learn about native species, and continue to dream about the next steps for this passion of healthy plant medicine and all that I can do to help people like you.

As a family-oriented business, it is only natural that our name comes from my children — named after special plants, Hawthorn, one of my favorite plants with small white flowers, known for being very heart healing; Juniper, a bright piney plant with blue berries often used in bitters. Our children and I love to be outdoors, hiking and learning more about edibles in our area. We harvest plants for salads and new creations. We are so blessed to have so many amazing wildflowers and weeds growing all around us in Florida. Some plants are intentionally and organically grown as a local source for plant medicine while others are purchased from an organic grower.

Our Founder

A mother, a midwife, and a budding herbalist.

Heather loves being in the garden, taking walks outdoors, and spending time with her family so her passion for herbal remedies and using wildcrafted ingredients developed quite naturally. It is a real family business when her children love going to markets, helping to make products to sell, and playing with the other children.

Markets have become a community for Heather and her family. Currently, Heather is working through the Aviva Romm herbalist course for women’s health to supplement her research and reading. She has attended many herbal conferences and plant walks.

She views herbs much like superfoods for our bodies rather than a drug that requires a specific dose. Once the plants are in our bodies they are able to stimulate healing. Using these remedies she has kept her children well for their lives and allowed me to work in hospital, while rarely, if ever, getting sick.

She feels so empowered by using and creating plant medicine that she has grown this passion from a hobby to a true business that she loves.
